You should only send your child to school
if you have to, because your work is
critical to our COVID-19 response.

If you are able to keep your child at home, you should.

We are delighted with the start our new Year 7’s have made.

Their confidence in moving to secondary school has been boosted by their engagement with our extensive transition programme, and they have really “hit the ground running”.

Our new year 7 have taken full advantage of getting hands-on with their learning, especially in Technology where they have been developing graphic design and project management skills, in Science with a range of exciting practical investigations and in Music by experimenting with a selection of instruments and composition challenges. Students have commented on how much they are enjoying the enhanced practical learning, with one saying "I get to do something practical every day. I really like learning that way."

In addition to this, all the hard work they have been putting into their English, Maths, Spanish and Humanities lessons has been burning a lot of energy! In the interest of replenishing those energy stores, we have welcomed a new catering team to the Dukeries. Our students are delighting in sampling new and interesting flavours from across the globe, and have really responded to making informed choices about their diet. Students are enjoying their increased independence and have described the food as "tasty and nutritious"!

Our new Year 7 are a very exciting year group with endless potential. We have been bowled over with their presentation, manners and standards of uniform – truly shining examples of what it means to go to the Dukeries Academy.
